Volunteering at a Hare Krishna center is not an ordinary pious activity, but rather an activity on the spiritual platform. The soul is eternally active, and it can only find its permanent blissful nature when engaged in Krishna's service. ISKCON in general, and our ISKCON Montreal center here, were established exactly for this purpose: to facilitate everyone in Krishna-centered activities, and thus experience the unique fulfillment of offering your activities for the Lord's pleasure.
